Meet our Counselors

Daphne Luster

Daphne is passionate about the healing arts and, from a young age, knew she wanted to serve others on the journey of returning to wholeness.  Daphne is the Founder and Director of Heart’s Content Healing Arts, where she serves as a teacher, counselor, and guide.  Daphne is a mother, musician, yogi, visual artist, and equestrian. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology, is a Registered Yoga Teacher, has a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling, and specializes in treating grief, loss, and trauma as a Licensed Clinical Counselor.  Daphne is a supervisor for the Kentucky Board of Counseling.  She was a Licensed Banker from 1999 through 2009 and has been practicing counseling since 2010.  Daphne utilizes a variety of evidence-based healing modalities fused with alternative techniques.  Daphne attended the University of Louisville, the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts, and Capella University.  Daphne considers herself a lifelong student, most recently studying equine-assisted healing practices, sound healing, trauma-informed yoga, and shamanism.  Daphne started her private practice, Heart’s Content Counseling, in 2017, and in 2023 expanded to a group practice.  Most recently, she opened  Heart Space Om, a yoga studio.  Daphne strives to help people discover their true nature and cultivate compassionate, transformational change.

Jessica Hummel

Jessica Hummel is a passionate mental health professional with an impressive clinical mental health background. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Louisville, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA and receiving the Outstanding Student Award. Recently, Jessica embarked on a new chapter at Heart’s Content Counseling and Wellness. Before this, she served at Bridgehaven Mental Health Services, offering therapy to adults with severe mental illness and engaging in crisis management. Her internships and practicums spanned Bridgehaven and the Cardinal Success Program, where she catered to adult and child clients, emphasizing safety and well-being.
Jessica’s diverse roles in the mental health sector include positions as a Mental Health Technician, Case Manager, and Inpatient Chemical Dependency Counselor. Each role fortified her skills, from assisting clients with essential needs to coordinating care with therapists and managing crises. Her dedication to mental health is also evident in her research contributions. As a Research Assistant at the University of Louisville’s Eating Anxiety and Treatment Lab, she managed data and trained participants, assisting with work that gained international recognition.  
Trained in Trauma-Focused – Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Internal Family Systems, Jessica is a Kentucky Licensed Professional Counseling Associate (LPCA) American Counseling Association (ACA) member. Now at Heart’s Content Counseling and Wellness, Jessica contributes to their integrative, trauma-informed healing approach. The center offers a blend of traditional and holistic treatments, creating a haven for personal growth and healing. Jessica’s expertise and the center’s holistic methods ensure clients find empowerment and healing in their journey.

Dr. Amanda O’Bryan

Dr. Amanda O’Bryan is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPCA) with a rich background in both academic and clinical spheres. She holds a Master’s in Counseling and a PhD in Experimental Psychology, bringing a comprehensive understanding of mental health to her practice. 

Dr. O’Bryan specializes in anxiety, substance abuse, as well as neurodivergence and relationship counseling. She is particularly passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and individuals in nontraditional relationships.

Her therapeutic style is trauma-sensitive, person-focused and strengths-based, marked by empathy and non-judgment. Dr. O’Bryan believes in meeting clients where they are, empowering them to harness their own wisdom while she provides gentle guidance and support. Her commitment to relational work is grounded in the belief that community care is the key to a healthy world.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. O’Bryan is an avid writer on mental health topics. She has also worked as a psychology professor and mental health coach, further enriching her approach to therapy. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys reading, cooking, and exploring the outdoors, holding a firm belief in the healing power of nature.
